From the Glenorchy airstrip, just two minutes from Blanket Bay, Glenorchy Air flies you to Milford Sound where you join one of the Milford Sound cruises, which depart throughout the day. The boats cruise the full length of this world-famous fiord – to the Tasman Sea and back to the wharf at the Milford Sound Visitor Centre. By flying with with Glenorchy Air you will avoid the tour bus crowds which arrive from Queenstown in the middle of the day.

Unless a knowledgeable travel advisor has made arrangements for you, we recommend you do not pre-book flights to Milford as they are weather dependant. We also do not recommend a day trip from Blanket Bay to Milford Sound using land transport as this involves a road journey of at least five hours each way. Let us give you the options when you arrive.
